5-4-1 is a great transition for fast Wide-Mids.. NEW
by: Anonymous

5-4-1 is a great transition to shut down switch play that comes against 4-2-3-1. Then it creats great counters and switch plays on the counter attack. Wide Mids and Striker has to be fast and good at 1v1 + finishing.

great formation

I am a big fan of the 5-4-1. It is very important that the entire team moves forward quickly, and gets back to defend as a unit. I used a slightly different defensive strategy however. I use a 2 outside backs, a sweeper, and 2 man markers used to shut down the other teams strikers. However, your defensive outside backs need to be able to adjust if you face a team that plays more than 2 strikers.
