Big Secret to Success in Soccer

by Sue
(San Diego, CA)

I have played this game for many years now, I love it. And I just wanted to share with you because just like you, I also want to get better and reach my potential as a soccer player. I don't want to write a long story, which might bore you so I'll make it simple. These are some of things that helped me turn from lousy to ass-kicking confident footballer...

1. Practice - there's no other way. I can sometimes be lazy just like anyone else, so it's not rocket science. Get a ball, get outside (anywhere), do continuous repetitions of dribbling (around objects preferably), shooting (on wall if done alone), and play many soccer games as possible.

2. Review - this may be new to some people, but this has really helped me recently. After a game, write down the mistakes you made and at the next game prepare yourself to not make the same mistakes again. ex. keep ball close when dribbling, sheild ball away from defender, etc.

3. Juggle - when I first started playing soccer I couldn't do one single juggle, but I kept practicing like crazy to do as many as I could. After like 6 years, I can do 5,400 juggles. I also won two juggling competitions at a soccer summer camp it was amazing. I recommend also doing juggling tricks since regular juggling might not help in a game except for maybe on touch.

Now, get out there and start to play soccer :-)
