Cristiano Ronaldo Rocket Free Kick

by Mark
(Malaysia)

If you study Manchester United these days, you will notice that Cristiano Ronaldo has the most powerful free kick in the team. His free kicks are deadly, but what makes them more 'sick' to watch is the movement of the ball when kicked and went into the net. The ball has a slight dipping effect and it travels through the air with huge amount of power. Many players around the world want to know how he performs his free kicks, so, I just wanted to ask you if u can give your own opinion on these points....

THE ANSWER

Hello Mark, well, I agree on what you are saying. Cristiano Ronaldo is the best free kick taker in Man U. I’ve studied his free kicks and as I can see, the dipping effect is caused by his unique way of striking the ball. If you look closely you will notice that he is actually shooting the ball by using the half instep.

Now you probably wonder what the half instep is. Well, imagine that you are using half of your instep and half of the inside part of your foot to strike the ball. To clarify things little more I’ve also included an image that explains what I mean (the part of foot that he is using is marked with red color).

Soccer Kick

I assume that you would also like to kick the ball on the same way like Cristiano Ronaldo does. Well, first of all, you need to keep in mind that he spends a lot of time practicing on his free kicks.

I’ve read in a magazine that he spends about 30 minutes per training sessions with his free kicks. So, if Manchester united practice at least once per day, 7 times per week, you can easily say that he is spending more than 3,5 hours per week only for his free kicks.

With other words, this should give you an idea of how much works it takes to become a true kicking master. Also, you need to remember that once you become really good at free kicking you need to spend a lot of time with maintaining what you’ve learned. Always bear in mind that hard and focused work will help you to reach your goals.

P.S, use this post to notify me and the rest of the readers about your progress. It would be really interesting to get regular updates on your development.
