Cristiano Ronaldo Scissors Move - How To

"Soccer is not just about scoring goals, it's about winning." A. Shearer

The Cristiano Ronaldo scissors move is great for getting around your opponent. The move is performed by shifting the ball from one foot to another. If you execute the move right your opponent will be confused and you will be able to get past him/her. Here is a quick guide with Cristiano Ronaldo video explaining how to perform a scissors move.

Step 1
Start by driving the ball forward, having the ball on your right foot (or left, if you are left footed of course). Keep in mind to have control on the ball. The purpose is not to run fast. A 30% tempo of your top speed should be just fine. The center of gravity should be between your both feet

Step 2
Now, with your left foot, step quickly to the left of the ball. Your body weight should be supported by your left leg. But your center of gravity should be leaning to the right. Fake a shot with your right foot but follow through to the left of the ball

Step 3
Now, use your right foot to step over the ball. As your right foot is planted, quickly transfer your body weight from your left foot to your right foot. Your center of gravity should now end up over you right foot

Step 4
With your weight transferred to your right foot point your left foot down and use the outside of your foot to move the ball to the left

Step 5
Now, transfer you weight back to your left foot. Turn your body towards the ball and perform a quick sprint with the ball away from your opponent

Tips

• One of the most common mistakes when performing the scissors move is to not shift your weight. The shift in weight gets your opponents to react to the fake and fool them to start in the wrong direction

• Not changing your speed and direction is another common mistake you cannot afford to make while performing your scissors move. The aim is to cause your opponent to lose balance by confusing them with your moves. You should utilize this advantage by accelerating away from you opponent as he/she tries to regain balance

Scissors move is one of the most powerful moves if performed correctly. This move may look easy, but to master it you will need to practice many hours.
