Do I Have a future in soccer?

by Joshua
(Palmdale,California)

Hi my name is Josh, I'm 17 and a senior in high school. I used to play soccer when I was younger from 7-11. I was pretty good but I wasn't the best. I had a good understanding of the game and a natural talent. I went through some life changes and played a little foot ball and did some wrestling.

This past season of my senior year I was going to try out for the soccer team but on the third day I started messing up a lot and I felt intimidated and quit. I still feel like I have a lot of potential but I don't know if I'm just kidding myself. I'm tall (6'2) thin and I'm fast but am I too old to become great?

I'm willing to spend at least 3 very very dedicated hours every day practicing juggling/drills. I want to train over the next year and try out for a club team or community college and move up from there but other kids that i talk to doubt I can because "I need years of playing". Is it too late for me? ..the game just feels so natural and i feel I just need some coaching& practice

THE ANSWER

Hello, Josh, I can't tell you whether you will make it (I guess by make it you mean becoming professional). However, I do know that with hard work and effort you can still reach a lot of goals. You need to be prepared to practice really hard and join a soccer club as well as it will help you improve your current soccer skills. I wish you all the best with your soccer career and I hope that you will make it.
