Fitness For Soccer - Tips You Should Bear in Mind

by Miky
(Romania)

I have discovered that step climbing is a cool and easy way to get faster during the pre-season. You don’t need any equipment either. However, you will still need to have warm clothes as you don’t want to get ill.

I like to perform about 5 step runs in a row (depends on how long the stairs are), stretch for 2 minutes, run 2 laps across the field, stretch 2 min and then start over again. You should try to perform at least 3 sets but if you can do more than great!

It is important to keep in mind that you should not run too fast. I would recommend you to run 70 % of your maximum speed. If you want, you may also involve some other exercises like sit-ups and push-ups. On this way you will be able to keep yourself warm during the rest while building some extra muscles.

Take a good shower and try to rest enough. Some players find it very difficult to sleep after training (I am one of these) and you should be aware of that. There are some things you can do to cool down e.g lying down and watching TV, reading a book or browsing your laptop. I can promise you that after some time you will find yourself dozing.

I hope that you have found my tips valuable and I would be glad if you could submit your own story to help other players as well (just like I do).
