How to Beat the Wall During a Free Kick?

Have you ever wondered how to beat a wall where all opponents are pretty tall? Well, that can be a tough thing but in this guide I will give you some valuable tips on how to get it done. Let’s go ahead and get started!

Pass the Ball

If the wall tries to steal a half yard by moving forward you should consider passing the ball to a near standing teammate instead.

This will surprise your opponents because most of them will focus on you which will give your teammate a great opportunity to go for a shot.

However, you should not pass the ball to a teammate that is marked by an opponent. Try not to reveal that you will pass the ball.

Instead, use your body language to make your opponents think that you will go for a hard kick. One way to hide what you aim to do is to look forward and prepare for the kick.

Now, run at the ball and pretend like you will kick it hard but instead of doing that pass the ball to one of your teammates (the one that is not marked of course).

Under The Wall

If you think that you can’t get the ball over your opponents then you should consider kicking the ball under them instead.

Generally, in a free kick situation the wall should usually jump, trying to get a head on the ball. To force the wall to jump, simply pretend that you will fire a high free kick.

Your opponents will jump when you are about to hit the ball but instead of kicking the ball high, send it under them.

If the goalkeeper hasn’t figured out what is going on, the chance for you to score a goal will be pretty good.

Holes in the Wall

Check if there is a small hole in the wall. Sometimes, your opponents will leave a small hole in the wall that you can take advantage on.

What you should do is to try to get the ball through that hole. Keep in mind that you will need to have a pretty powerful kick to get this to work.

Summary

These tips have helped me score several goals from my free kicks. Remember, during a free kick you only get one chance to get it right, if you fail the goal scoring opportunity will often be wasted!

However, as with any other soccer skill, you’ll need to spend a lot of time practicing, so make sure you understand that!
