Goal Scored From My Own Area

by Adam
(Canterbury)

My name is Adam and I am 13 yrs old. I was playing a match with my local team (Canterbury city) on my usual position as center/ left back. The goalkeeper had just taken his kick from the edge of his area.

The ball came straight to me and I volleyed it with the outside of my foot back the other way. It went over all the heads of the rest of the players and while the goal keeper was going back to his line it went over him and went in.

It was a great feeling to see the ball in the goal and I couldn’t realize that I have scored such a great goal. My point is that you should always try to shoot as often as possible because if you don’t show you will never score either.

Of course, you don’t have to shoot from 50 yards or so, but as soon as you receive the ball near the 18 yard box try to finish at the goal as quickly as possible. Also, keep in mind that you shoot doesn’t have to be amazingly powerful. Instead, aim the posts and force the keeper to acrobatic diving.
