How I Win almost Every Heading Duel

by Aron
(South Africa)

To win heading duels you need to be determined and unafraid of pain (sometimes). If you don’t have any of these two abilities, there is a big chance that you will rarely win any heading duels. To help you out, I’d like to share some tips on what you can do to improve these points (if you feel that you have problems with them).

First thing you should put in mind about soccer heading is that the first player on the ball will also win the duel. This is pretty obvious, don’t you agree? Yet, you fail to do this in every game. Understand that the secret to winning a heading duel is to jump first. If you jump last your opponent will have a big advantage on you which will be hard to repair.

Second thing to put in mind is to never be afraid of getting pain. You see, the more careful you are the more pain you will get. This may sound strange but since I decided to stop caring about getting pain when jumping for heading duels, I almost never get pain. However, before I did that I used to have pain after every heading duel.

Third and last thing that will surely improve your "Head Duels Won Statistics" is to keep your eyes on the ball. Do not just jump and hope for the best. This is not how the pros are doing it. If you study some really good heading players you’ll notice that they always keep their eyes on the ball and never close them during the heading moment. So, if you want to become a real heading master I advise you to adapt these tips in your game.
