how to be more fit and faster player?

by Raed
(Lebanon)

Dear mister, I play soccer as a hobby, but recently I get overweight due to a surgery in my ankle. I would like to ask you about some training tactics that I can do on my own to regain some fitness and playing speed again, and maybe some good advices from you. P.s I am a forward player...

THE ANSWER

Hello Raead, and sorry for your ankle injury, I hope that you are O.K now. When it comes to regaining fitness I would first recommend you to consult with your doctor whether he/she recommend you to start practice. If so, then you could start to jog and then when you gain a solid condition switch to hurdle and shuttle runs.
Also, doing pushups and crunches will do you well but do not overdo them. I have also collected many fitness drills in my soccer fitness book that comes for free as a part of the soccer positions package. If you have time I recommend you strongly to check it out.

All the best /Mirsad
