How To Deal With Trouble Soccer Players

by Michael
(Israel)

I just start to coach a little team in a very bad neighborhood. I could see that the guys have talent but they have no discipline and no manners. I didn't know what to do, I decide to talk with a psychotherapist and ask him what to do. He told me to sign a contract with the players, not a too strict one, a contract they stand in! I write a contract with only 5 rules:

1. No one’s speak when I speak

2. No fighting and cursing

3. No one leave the group without a permission

4. Always come to practice with the appropriate clothes and shoes.

5. Treat your friends as you wish they treat you.

For every discipline problem that is against the rules the player get punished and banned from training, doing pushups or laps. At a very disturb discipline (like fighting) the player is out from the team! At the beginning they didn't like those rules and try to break them time after time. But I didn't gave up I punished them for every discipline problem.

I am now two years in the club. I can tell you that in first year we won the championship. And this year we are one of the favorites to won. The kids now helping the community and do well at school. We get a lot of compliments from the kid’s parent’s teachers and from the police.
