How To Dominate My Soccer Position?

by sekou kaba
(stokholm,märsta, Sweden)

I am an ordinary soccer player that plays in Sweden. My position is similar to Messi's and David villa's as well and they also my favorites. I have long time been searching for a soccer's site as yours but now I think I have reached my final destination. Because your site offers almost everything one need to become a great player.

My question is; how to create space and how to run as a forward in order of receive many passes from your teammates. What I simply need is a piece of advice on how I should perform my running with ball and without ball.

I will really be thankful if you reply as soon as possible with an answer that will change my life. Man, soccer is my life and you are my only option so please, please don't let me down.

THE ANSWER

Hello Sekou, first of all, thanks for the kind words, I appreciate them a lot. So, you are playing as forward? Well, in order to achieve the same skills as Messi and Villa you will need to spend countless of hours on the field, but who knows, maybe I’ll see you one day running on the Camp Nou soccer field? :-)

When it comes to playing as forward I would really recommend you to take a look at my soccer positions book where I am explaining more detailed on how to succeed on this position. The general rule (when playing as forward) is to always be in movement. Never stand and wait for the ball.

Make it hard for the opponents to mark you. If you just stand and wait for the ball it will be pretty easy to mark you and defenders will not have any problems with clearing the ball away from you. Another strategy is to perform V runs which mean that you are running 1-3 meters to the left or right and then run in the opposite direction.

Also, when you are about to receive a pass from a teammate, the defense line will try to leave you standing in offside. What you should do then is to follow up with them and stand about half yard onside. Once the ball is passed you will be onside and the defense line will have very hard to catch you up as you will be already running at full speed.
