Learn to Play Indoor Soccer and Improve Your Skills With Ease

Before we start let’s take a quick look at what indoor soccer actually is.

Well, the game is pretty new and also similar to outside soccer. However, there are some things that are different and in this guide we will take a look at these.

Indoor soccer is generally played in ice hockey rinks with dashboards, so errant shoots can rebound back into play directly. This will also increase the scoring opportunities because it is pretty hard to predict where the ball will bounce.

Proper Shoes

First thing you will need to get before starting to play indoor soccer is proper footwear. These shoes doesn’t have to be some fancy super 200$ boots. A cheap pair of indoor boots with good quality should not cost more than 50-70 $.

However, some indoor fields have synthetic grass and then you will need to buy a pair of turf shoes. There are several models to choose from and they should not either cost too much.

Positions

In indoor soccer you will use same positions as in regular soccer (goalkeeper, defender, midfielder, forward etc) beside the soccer tactics.

However, the main difference is the number of players that is allowed on the field. Here in Sweden, the allowed amount on the field is 4 outfield players and a goalkeeper. But depending on where you live the rules may be different.

Fast Substitution

Playing indoor soccer requires fast substitutions and you need to be on your feet all the time. The reason is that substitutions are made on-the-fly.

This is a method for performing quick substitutions without needing to get referrers attention. However, you can’t enter the game until your teammates have crossed the side line of the field.

Use an Indoor Ball

It is possible to play indoor soccer with an outside ball. However, the ball will be harder to control and you will need much more time to do something usable with it.

I recommend you therefore to either borrow or buy an indoor soccer ball. They generally cost about 20-30 $ and are worth the money.

Summary

Indoor soccer is great for improving your overall soccer skills. Plus, it’s really fun and honestly I enjoy playing it more than regular 11 vs 11.
