Improve my diving to my left as a soccer goalie

by kevin
(carson, CA, los Angeles)

I had a question on how to improve diving to the right because that is my weak side. I want to also improve diving to my left! And also on how to rush a player on a 1 v 1. And I’m not very sure when I land after I dive to my right so I need some advice on how to fall...

THE ANSWER

Well, think about what you are doing while diving to the left (which I assume is your strong side). Try then to copy that movement while diving to the left. While rushing on a player 1 v 1 you should let the opponent make the first move. Simply, try to make yourself big and be on your toes.

In order to fall smoothly after diving you need to be relaxed in your body and you should not be afraid of landing on hard ground. You will need to practice many hours before finding the right rhythm as goalie. Nothing comes over a day and your goalkeeping skills will neither.

Good Luck
