Kicking the Ball with Power

by Nick
(North Carolina)

I know how hard it can be to get enough power on the ball. However, I’ve learned some very important things that I want to share with you. I am sure that if you follow them you will be able to shoot with more power and become feared among the keepers.

The first thing you need to keep in mind is to pull your kicking leg back as much as possible. You see, the more you pull your leg back the greater power on the ball. Imagine yourself firing a catapult. The more you pull the scoop back the longer distance of the stone.

Second thing you need to remember is to place your support ling pretty close the ball. I would say approximately about 4-5 inches from the ball. Third, try to strike the ball by using the instep part of your foot. If you want the ball to fly low, say 1 yard or lower, then keep in mind to lean your over body forward. If you don’t do that you will probably strike the ball way to high and miss the goal.

Fourth and last thing you need to know about kicking the ball with power is to point the toes of your support foot in the direction where you want the ball to go. Of course you can’t point your toes with millimeter precision but at least try to point them in right direction.

I’ve been able to score over 20 goals by using the tips above so I know that they work. However, it is up to you to remember these and to take advantage of them in your games. Oh, I almost forgot the most important thing of them all; if you never shot, you will never score.

Yes, I know, it really sounds like a cliché, but it doesn’t matter how many times you heard it if you never apply it in your games. Simply, no shooting is equal to no goals. But if you follow my tips I am sure that you will soon share your story about how you scored 5 goals in a game and broke your personal record. Good luck with your scoring and see you on the field.
