Planning Your Success as Soccer Player

by AA
(NYC)

I was always an average player but I know I could be a lot better when I had my moments of brilliance. However, I was not consistent. For some reason, (I guess) my soft personality allowed people to make fun of me which personally got to me. It affected my school work and social life. Long story short it got to a point that I needed to get better.

I didn’t wanted to be just a good player but to prove that everyone was wrong and over a 5 month period I can say that I have gotten better 4 or 5 times comparing to how I played before because of the very strict workout routine (which I personally created and followed) I saw incredible results and never expected to become this good so fast. At this rate, if I continue to grow and improve my game then who knows where I can end up.

I know that a lot of soccer players want to become professional but the main goal for me is to become as good as possible because I simply love soccer and you must love it if you want to become good at it. I didn’t always love it, in fact, I realized that it’s easier to love soccer or any sport if you are good at it.

After reaching a certain level of fitness and ball skills where it becomes almost second’s nature with very little effort, that’s when you find that you love it. I have a ton of advices to give but I’m not sure if I will reveal my secrets.

That is part of the advice and that is what is difficult if you want to take your game to the next level. Simply, you will get the fastest results working at your own pace and you must discover yourself and how your body reacts for this to happen, you have to be in tune with yourself.

What I mean is the fact that it is good to practice with a team but that means you’re working at your coaches pace and not your own. I can attest to this because for 4 years I played in high school and while I did improve it was nothing compared to how I totally changed myself in a matter of 5 months during my senior year.

Honestly it took me longer to do this because all through I always did my own training but never saw any real results, it’s because I didn’t find the one that reacted the best for me because every soccer player has different body types, with other words, everyone has to discover what works best for them. Another one of my points is that you have to invent something different that works and that other people wouldn’t think of doing and run with it.

This is what I think the pros discover about themselves and why they are able to take their games to amazing levels. This takes a lot of hard work and thought because it’s not just about training hard but training smart as well. So you have to train a way that’s different and another important key, to train when you know that no one else will.

Besides training as often as you can with strategic rest days to maximize growth you must go out and practice when no one else is, for example rain snow anytime anywhere. On this way you’ll grow when mostly everyone else is inside. But you obviously must be dressed properly so you don’t get sick which would only hurt you.

This is a pretty long post and I’ve never done this before but lately I’ve learned so much I feel a need to let it out. I am not even close to being done I am short on time now. I will possibly reveal a few more secrets I have picked up (in all areas e.g. speed, strength, skills and fitness) in another blog but for now respond and tell me what you think.
