Playing Soccer vs. Studying
Day by day I get told of about my grades at school, and even when I get the grades, I realized I’ve missed out on soccer, so I just stopped studying and had 100% focus on football for around a month (That month also happened to be the month of exams). I started rapidly improving, I was becoming physically fitter and was more motivated to improve each day and at the end of the day I felt great for what I did.
Then at the end of the month I received and disappointed with my grades I had a straight D report card. I took it home and my parents kept yapping about it though I was not bothered as I knew I was becoming a much better soccer player. Until my parents started grounding me, and stopped me from attending soccer practice at school.
Knowing I was not going to be grounded forever I went to my laptop and starting watching videos, Googling soccer, etc. Until I reached an Interesting article on how a lot of players made it to the pro's. They had to depend on grades a lot, Why? To stay in college, and as a Plan B for their future. A lot of clubs go for college boys and to stay in college you need good grades, right?
So I switched my laptop off, and started revising, I knew I couldn’t do much soccer in a room so I used all my time on coursework and studying, 3 A's and I’m off the hook. I go outside and start playing, day after day but then realizing the reason I am playing is because of the studying I did while I was grounded.
So I went off to study again. I knew that if I kept on studying I would lose my skill in soccer, So I went to my coach for help and all he said was this: "Balance studying with soccer" So I did. After A while I was doing both good in soccer and getting my grades higher.
So, what’s the point of all this? Do not do the mistake I did. You are probably still young and have a lot of options open, Balance with what you love doing and with what you have to do, even if it is what you love doing that you want for your future career.
