Pro soccer player dream

by Sarah
(USA)

I’ve wanted all my life to become a professional soccer player. I am the one in my family that wants to go that far in soccer. I was wondering if you can recommend some great drills that I could do by myself.

I know about the basic one such as kicking against a wall or shooting and juggling and I am a pretty good juggler. Do you have any tips to help me in succeeding my dream? Don’t forget about the one player drills!

THE ANSWER

Hello Sarah, well, you are already mentioning the classic (and best ones) drills that can be used for practice when you don’t have any teammates around. However, I think that you should put some focus on controlling the ball when it is on the ground.

For that you can use cones or anything similar. Simply, put 10 cones in a straight line and keep the space between them to a half yard. Start then from the first cone and drive the ball first with the outside. Once you complete that, use the outside and continue with the sole. Make sure to use your both feet as this will help you improve the control of the ball at high speed which will result in better dribbling skills.

When it comes to fulfilling your dream and becoming professional you should know that you can’t mainly rely on talent. Instead, hard works is what it takes and you really need to be prepared on that one. However, do not give up as if you do, you will never reach your dreams.
