Shoot and Save

by Brennan
(Albion, NY)

Split your players into two equal soccer teams. One portion of each team line up at the goal post, the other diagonally across at the 18 yard box. Same goes for the other team, just have them go to the opposite side of the post and the 18 yard box.

One team has a player in goal to start. The other team passes the ball diagonally to their teammates for a shot on the goal (the ball must reach the 18 yard box for a shot to even be able to be taken. If the ball does not reach the 18 yard box you should yell "game over" and move on).

After the player shoots they should act as a goalie. As the player shoots, the other team can pass diagonally and try to score before the person gets to goal, or as they are getting in goal. Switch lines and repeat. The first team that reaches the 10 goals is the winner.

Note
Players who pass the ball need to go around the outside of the drill to switch lines. Do not allow them to run through the passing lanes as they will probably disturb the other players and make it hard for them to perform the drill properly.
