Soccer Dribbling Confidence...

by Dzeno
(Melbourne)

I don't know when I should use my soccer dribbling skills and when I'm using it I fail some times, because I feel like I won’t make it and I just slow down or perform the move incorrect. For example when I played one match that was important I made some mistakes near the goal and failed. Do you have any suggestions on what I can do in order to get rid of my dilemma?

THE ANSWER
Hello Dzeno, the most important thing when it comes to soccer dribbling is to have confidence and allow yourself to fail sometimes. It doesn’t matter how skilful you are with the ball if you are afraid of failure all the time. You simply need to accept that you will not be able to get around your opponents all the time. One rule I have is to never dribble on my own half of the field.

Instead, I try to perform my soccer moves near or inside the opponent’s 18 yard box. Also, do not dribble too much, instead, get around 1-2 players and then finish at the goal or pass the ball to a near standing teammate. I hope this helped and I wish you all the best with your soccer career.
