Don’t Make These Dribbling Mistakes!

Mastering different soccer moves is not difficult. After 5 or more tries you will be able to perform a move pretty easy.

But what can you do to take your new learned move one or several steps further?

Well, in this article we I will discuss how a move can be pretty useful against some defenders while it can be pretty useful against other ones.

Don’t make the same mistakes as I did!

First thing you need to ask yourself is; will I really be able to fool a defender with my new learned move?

You may have a clear Yes on this one but think about it twice before you go further.

The answer on whether you will get around your opponent or not with your new soccer move depends much on the type of opponents you will meet.

Of course, you may be able to dribble around some pretty poor defenders but what about skillful and hard to play against defenders?

I have experienced this several times during my soccer career. I remember trying out one of my new soccer moves on my team practice.

I was able to get around my teammates every time I executed my new learned move. So I thought that performing this one in my regular matches will bring the same results.

The following match I decided to try it out. However, my defender was not so easy fooled and every time I tried to fool him, he stole the ball from me.

He told me that stealing the ball from me was easier then stealing candy from kids. His statement made me pretty angry and I decided to not try out this move anymore.

So, what did I do wrong?

Well, my first mistake was to try out the same move 5 times in a row on the same opponent. You should never try out a move more than 3-4 times on the same defender.

Second, I thought that I didn’t need to practice on my new learned move because if it worked on my teammates then it must work on my opponents too.

Well, this may be true if your teammates are Maldini, Terry, Nesta, Sergio Ramos or other super defenders.

However, if you have recently started to play soccer in an amateur team I will bet that your teammates are like million years from above mentioned players.

Third mistake was to reveal what I was aiming to do through my body movements.

Keep in mind to never reveal what you will do to early. A clever opponent will take advantage on that and steal the ball from you pretty easy.
