Soccer Dribbling Problems

by Gabby
(US)

How do I dribble around the defenders if I'm a forward? They always seem to be able to take the ball away from me. Please help?

THE ANSWER

Hello Gabby, one of the most crucial factors when it comes to dribbling is to have confidence in what you are doing. Simply, if you are afraid of losing the ball as you are approaching the opponent, the chance is pretty big that you will do so. However, if you believe in yourself and challenge the opponents without fear, you will often end up as winner.

Another factor that is worth to mention is your ability to use different moves at the right time. Some moves are great when you are approaching the opponents at high speed while others are best suited when you are at low speed. What I suggest you to do is to first try out your moves during the practice. If they work, then they will probably work during your games as well.

Also, keep in mind that it takes a lot of work to become good at dribbling which means that you really need to practice a lot and focus on improving your weak sides.
