It really does seem that it would be common sense for her to change her number so I think that you should be the one to tell her or ask her (in a polite way) that she needs to change her number. That is just the right thing to do.

Hi again-
Thank you for your quick reply and I appreciate your suggestion. You are absolutely right that it truly doesn't matter what number is on my back, I will be the player that I am regardless. However, the problem is that my parents have already spent a TON of money on practice jerseys, away uniforms, home game uniforms, jacket, pants, sweatshirts and bag pack all of which have my number on them. This girl has to buy all the new gear so it would just make sense for her to switch her number since she has to buy everything new anyway. I just think that it should be common sense that when you go to a new soccer club you should expect to pick a new number if yours is already taken by someone who has been playing on the team for years. Unfortunately, some people are too self centered to realize this. I know that if the situation were reversed, I would immediately pick a new number because that would be not only the right thing to do, but also the classy and respectful thing to do.
