Soccer Midfielder - How To Succeed?

by Jack Chris
(U.A.E)

I want to know what all skills I need to have in order to become a good midfielder and how to improve it? Is there any tips you can give me for doing that?

THE ANSWER

To become a skillful midfielder you need to have good passing skills, ability to follow up in offense and be able to take the necessary defense work. However, if you want to play well on the flank you will need to be pretty fast as well, and be able to defeat your opponents in 1vs1 dribbling situations.

I would also recommend you to try out another position and see if you can perform better on them. There are players that were pretty average as strikers/forwards but once they changed to fullback they become professional and very successful. So, switching your soccer position would not hurt you, instead, it could help you play better.

To speed up this process you could take a look at Soccer Positions Guide which is a book that explains how to succeed on any soccer position no matter how long you have been playing soccer. Simply, with this book you will be able to find out what works, and what doesn’t which you could then apply later in your games.
