Soccer Professional Dreams

by Shafwan Sharar Reaz
(Malton, Mississauga, Canada)

Hey, I am sixteen and I am ok at soccer. Not as good as I want to be. My dribbling skills are not that good and I am pretty poor at juggling. I want to be really good at soccer and I absolutely love it. I intend to start full practice for 4 to 5 hours a day in the upcoming summer 2010. By that time I will be 17. So, is it too late?

THE ANSWER

Hello, it is never too late but I don’t know what kind of dreams you have with your soccer career, but I assume that they are about becoming professional as that’s what all soccer players are dreaming of whether they admit it or not. Practicing so many hours will not make you good try to limit your training to 1-2 hours per day. Believe me, if you really practice hard you will rarely be able to keep the tempo more than 1 hour.

I’ve seen people that started to play soccer when they was 25 and then they managed to become professional at the age of 28, so it is never too late. But, you should know that it is probably the hardest sport to succeed in as you are facing so much competition in form of other players. But, it is not impossible but you have to be prepared that you may not make it, and be aware of that.

All the best /Mirsad
