Offensive Soccer Skills And Tactics

"Soccer skills and tactics you need to know".

Intro to soccer skills and tactics
Attacking in soccer is to some degree a matter of doing the unexpected and surprising your opponents. You may have heard that creative players are often called artists, and often achieve big status and popularity among their fans. Still, a number of set tactics are frequently used, consciously or not, in effective attacks.

Passing and moving

Once you have the ball at your feet you need to deicde fast whether you should pass it to a teammate or going for fining by yourself.

If you don’t pass the ball immediately you will need to run with the ball. However, you should not run too long while having the ball at your feet as the opponents will catch you up (soon or later).

Running into free space

This tactic simply means that once you pass the ball you should not stand still and hope for the best. Instead, you should move into a better position and offer your teammate a passing alternative.

Give and go

The give and go tactic is pretty similar to the passing and moving tactic. Once you pass the ball to one of your teammates you will need to perform a quick run into space. This is crucial because the game without ball is equally important as the game with ball.

Switching sides

This type of tactic is a very effective way of both keeping pressure on your opponents and creating a new attack. If your opponents are in the possession of the ball you will be forced to adjust your position. However, you need to watch out for this because opponents will exploit the free space that you leave behind you.

Thru pass tactic

A thru pass tactic has several number of pros: If one of your teammates manages to receive the ball, avoid the offside trapoffside , he could easily create a one on one duel with your opponent’s goalkeeper.

But, if the opponent reaches the ball first, your teammate could still create something good from that situation. In most case, the opponent will face his own goal, which means that he will not have an idea of what is going on behind him. In many case, the opponent will be scared of making a mistake and kick the ball away. The ball will usually fly over the long line which means a throw in. However, sometimes the opponent will kick the ball straight ahead his own goal which will result in a corner kick.

The long through ball

This type of pass is intended for your forwards and they should try to remain onside until you kick the ball. This type of tactic will work best with strong and fast attacking players who will have enough skill to win the ball back, gain control over it and eventually finish with a shot on goal.

Triangular movement

This is a tactic that allows a safe and fast shifting of your flanks while keeping control of the ball. In a triangular play the ball is passed between you and two other teammates, forming a triangle. The effectiveness of triangular tactic lies in the fact that your opponents are unable to quickly adapt to your style of play.

Target player

This type of tactic is pretty useful when your team possesses a skillful striker who has the ability of taking your opponents whole defense on his/her own. The target player may also use give and go tactics, attempt to knock down high passes to teammates or she/he may simply try to overtire your opponents and make them more vulnerable.
