Soccer Stamina - How To Rebuild it Again?

by Desmond
(Ireland)

I’m 14 years old and I’m a regular soccer player but I got injured and since I’ve been out for about 6 months and I have not been very active. I wan start playing again in a month’s time but my stamina and fitness is very bad. How do I get my stamina up quickly and my running speed plus my shot power has depleted a bit too…

THE ANSWER

Hello Desmond, I am sorry to hear about your injury but that is a part of a soccer players life. Fortunately, it is possible to recover from most of the injuries but you can also decrease the rehabilitation time by taking necessary steps. For more tips about how to decrease the rehab time check out my soccer injuries book.

Anyway, let’s discuss how you can build your stamina. There are 2 types of exercises that can be performed by anyone without any equipment and these are hill running and shuttle runs. However, you should keep in mind that you should not practice too hard in the beginning, especially after a long injury. You can find more tips on how to build your stamina in my fitness for soccer book.

When it comes to shooting power, I recommend you to stop worrying about it as it will come naturally back once you start to practice regularly and when you are 100% fit. Wish you a fast recovery from your injury and all the best with your soccer career.
