Striker (dribbling)

by ERNAD
(Aurora, Illinois, United States)

Hi, I just want to start off by saying, this is an amazing site, and already it's inspirational. I'm 15 years old, turning 16 in October. I usually play Center Forward and I'm very good at scoring goals. I have a question regarding dribbling and crossovers, scissors, etc.

When I practice individually I practice on hard ground with regular outdoor shoes. By practicing 1-3 hours, 2-3 times a week how long would I expect to see improvements if I practice on one certain move each of the 3 days for those 1-3 hours?

I'm more concerned with my scissors because that's what I want to improve on the most. In real games I usually use my speed and rarely use crossovers, but it pays off with 1-3 goals at the end of the game. Is there any way I can make my feet faster or will that improve when I continue to practice crossovers?

I've looked over most of your threads that you have on the left, and I've learned a lot, especially nutrition, although I already eat healthy. Thanks for taking the time to look over this and answer my questions!

THE ANSWER

Hello Ernad, it is very hard to say how much time you would need to utilize a particular soccer move completely during your games. You see, dribbling is not just about being able to perform soccer moves at high speed because without confidence on the field you’ll not come any far.

In order to improve the speed of your feet I would recommend you to work on your anaerobic speed at least once per week. Also, make sure to practice on your weak foot as well because on that way you’ll be able to score goals from several different angles.
