the V Defense

by kazimmer@email.com

In youth soccer I never want to give up a brake away goal shot, so my defense plays in a v formation. 2 fullbacks on the side and a center fullback in front just like geese flying in formation. The center fullback plays near the center line but retreats quickly and always takes the person coming down with the ball.

The other 2 players will play of the penalty area by about 10 yards, but no further and whichever side the ball is coming down that player will back up the center fullback. The other player watches the backdoor for a cross.
