Tips for Strikers and Forwards

by Shelby
(USA)

My name is Shelby. I am 13 years old and I have been playing as a forward/striker for a while. I really love the game of soccer and I can tell you that there is no better feeling then scoring a goal. I am averaging about 2 goals per game which is pretty solid I believe. Here is what I’ve learned from playing on these positions:

In order to perform well as a forward/striker you will need to listen on what your teammates are telling you. You should not either be too selfish, instead share the ball with your teammates as well. Sometimes, even if you can score a goal, you should try to pass the ball to a teammate and let him score the goal instead of you.

Keep in mind that soccer is not a solo sport, which means that you need to do everything you can to help your team win. Another thing you should keep in mind while playing as forward/striker is to be in movement all the time. Don’t stand and wait for the ball, instead make yourself playable and offer alternatives to your teammates.

And, one more thing; don’t be afraid of failure. If you do not dare to fail, you will not either succeed. So, believe in yourself and the results will come. Don’t forget to practice hard as well! Good luck with your soccer career.
