What can I do to make my high school soccer team?

by Sam
(Atlanta,Georgia,USA)

Dear Mirsad,
I really want to play soccer for my high school. There are a lot of people trying out and I want to know what the coaches are looking for. Tryouts are almost here and I want to know what I need to practice every day to improve. Many of the people trying out play higher levels of soccer than I do, so I've got to train hard. Please tell me some great practice drills I should do to really improve. I'll do them all.

Thanks

THE ANSWER

Hello Sam, well, to improve your soccer skills you need time, and you are a short of time currently. However, there are a lot of drills presented on my site that you can do on your own so I suggest you to take a look at these.

I don’t know what requirements your coaches have and what people you are competing against. However, generally, I can say that you should try to keep yourself calm, relaxed and have fun. You should try also not to be nervous (even if it is hard, I know).

You are not saying either what position you are playing at? However, if you are already familiar with various positions in soccer I would recommend you to take a look at the secrets behind each of these. I wish you good luck with the tryouts and I hope that you will make it.
