Your reaction on the soccer field AFTER you just passed THE FIRST defender.

by Chi-Chi
(South Florida)

First, I want to say that I agree with everything that the article exclaimed, but I would also like to input that dribbling is the one of the more beautiful subjects of soccer!

Now to write about my title. You got the ball at the top of the 18, and you see a lane, you hip feint to that particular side, then smoothly move the ball to other lane where you defender was! Now what do you do? Do not go crazy as you feel your eye lids exceed the amount of sunlight into your eyes (open your eye lids), remain calm, but in a hurry.

Keep your head up and be ready to move on to the next situation. This is when you use your so called "instincts". It's up to you to decide what the first option is available for you to grasp (An open man, another lane, another defender to take on, fake shot, bicycle step-over, etc.).

There is no greater glory than scoring a goal, but there is something close to it, making defenders scared to mark you the second time you meet and the ball is at your feet's mercy. If you get stopped, smile, the defender did his job. Don't mind the sudden disappointment of your teammates body's language, just show a smile, maybe retort "my bad, kid", but don't ever change your game, just be considerate to the game!
